Elmiron Lawsuits Accuse Janssen Pharmaceuticals of Vision Injuries

Janssen Pharmaceuticals is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.  The company currently manufactures and distributes more than 52 different types of medical related drugs in the United States.  The bladder pain drug Elmiron has affected many patients with experiencing vision complications.

Elmiron lawsuits filed against Janssen Pharmaceuticals claim the drug causes a severe eye disorder known as retinal maculopathy and other retina related conditions that can possibly cause blindness.

Lawsuit claims accuse Janssen Pharmaceuticals for the failure to inform patients and medical professionals with the associated complications of prescribing Elmiron.

– warning label failure of about retinal maculopathy
– blurred vision or blindness
– permanent retinal injuries
– impaired vision

Elmiron, also known as the generic name pentosan polysulfate sodium is used to coat a protection layer around the bladder wall to prevent harmful substances in the urine to affect the body.

Elmiron is also a blood thinner that will prevent blood clots from forming.  Most patients have used the drug to help with bladder complications and other pains, such as interstitial cystitis.

Patients need to know the high risks involved with consuming Elmiron.  Elmiron lawsuits are accusing Janssen Pharmaceuticals of serious vision complications and retina damages associated from using the drug.  Research studies have reviewed patients who have used the Elmiron drug longer term have developed eye damage due to the toxic chemicals in the drug.  In some cases patients unfortunately have been diagnosed with a new rare eye disease known as retinal maculopathy.

Elmiron lawsuits claim any patients who have used the drug long-term may experience vision impairments.  Higher doses and extended use can lead to retinal maculopathy, a condition known to be a major cause for blindness.

If you or a loved one were prescribed the IC drug Elmiron and have experienced injury to your vision, you may be eligible to file an Elmiron lawsuit.
